Tire Rotation / Torque? S70 2000 GLT-SE

I have 7500 miles on my 2000 GLT.

I believe it is time to rotate the Michelin Tires.

How do they do it, from front to back, side to side, etc?

How do I know it was done correctly? Do I put some hidden mark on each tire or rim?

I have read that air powered tools can "over torque" and warp rotors? Is this correct and should I be concerned?

Thanks,

Jeff

    Re: Tire Rotation / Torque? S70 2000 GLT-SE

    Jeff:

I either do it myself or have my Volvo retailer rotate them - either way can I trust the results. If you feel otherwise mark the inside of the wheel and check it after the work is done. As for rotation options, you have a few, (assuming your tires are not asymmetrical) the first is for front wheel drive vehicles the other two are for all types of vehicles (including front wheel drive):

Cross over (to the opposite side of the car) the two rear tires to the front and move the two front to the rear on the same side.

Crisscross – right rear to left front and vice-versa, left rear to right front and vice-versa.

Front – Back - Move front tires to the rear and vice versa (same side of the car).

Check out the Nokian Tires website (www.nokiantires.com)/ passenger tire /F.A.Q or the Michelin (www.michelin.com) website - they have a tire rotation calculator. Hope this helps.

      Re: Tire Rotation / Torque? S70 2000 GLT-SE

Sorry, but I do not agree. You must never move radial tires from one side to the other. It is the best way to have problems in the future. Believe

me; this is not only my opinion, but the opinion of two tire shops I know

and even my dealer's opinion. The only way to rotate is from rear to

      front and vice versa.

Concerning the torque and air powered tools, my experience tells me that

you cannot trust anybody, even the dealer. Buy a good torque wrench and

      check it yourself.
