Front seats 1998 and 2001 S70

Anyone know it 1998 S70 seats will work in a 2001 V70?

I need the bottom leather on the driver side and found a 98 with good seats.

Thanks!

They are multiplying, 1996 850 wagon 345K, 2001 V70T5 140K, 2003 S60 2.4T 158K

98 has mechanically deployed side air bag. 01 is electric. if you disconnect the bag on the 01 you will have a permanent SRS light.

My gut tells me no. The first gen s/v70's weren't on the P2 platform like the '01 is. Looking at the parts diagram, the subframe is different for them both. I think one or two of the screws are the same..

However, looking at the mounting mechanism's they're roughly the same. Bolts appear to go the same spot, though I don't have measurements so I cannot be certain. The car only got .7" wider and only .4" longer so it might fit. However the wheelbase was extended 3.5" so that could mean longer brackets...

If I had to put percentage I'd say 80% no, 20% yes. I don't know how much you're getting the other ones for, so you have to decide if its worth it to try. If you do, start on passenger side, they're easier to get out!

One final thing, I think you'll have more luck with the other P2 cars. The '99-'06 S80, the '01-'09 S60, and obviously the '01-'07 v70s should all fit yours.

Thanks for the information. Will the S80 seats work? From the junk yard part searches, it does not show the S80 crossing with the V70 or S60. If they will, I have located a complete S80 interior. I will get it and install. It may be the frames are the same, just the seat has slightly different cushion and material.

Thanks for the great input from Brickboarders!!!

You're attempting to swap entire seats correct? If you're just looking at the bottom cushion the S70's should fit fine.

You're going with the power seats, correct?
The S80 has the same brackets, seat frame and basic mechanics of the S60/V70 HOWEVER the electrics could be different. Here's where it gets a bit dicey. The S80 is Volvo's flagship, and all the fancy gizmo's went there before your V70 got them. Basically this means that if your seats don't have memory recall (not all V70's, S80's, S60's have this feature) don't try to put it in. It can be done but you need to get the PSM and a few more electronic components.. Not worth the headache.

Hopefully you have the PSM and it works. Then you should be fine using any of the three seats from 99-02. I wouldn't recommend using the '03+ because your car doesn't really have the CAN network compared to them. It tries to communicate in those cars more which could render the seat inoperable...

Oh and I learned something today that I think is cool. In the '03+ with the recall it remembers your seat position based on which remote unlocks the door. So one keyfob to me and one to the SO and I'd never have to touch the seat controls again! Now if only I can install all that on my 850...

I don't think you will have a problem. For good measure, measure the seat cushions first. Just cut off the metal hog clips and replace them with plastic zip ties.

I am not sure about the electronics for the 2001, but you might try just swapping the entire seat. The 1998 side air bag might be different than the 2001. For verification, check all of the electric plugs under the seat, counting the number of wires to each plug.
