My 98 V70 XC pulled a no-start again on me 10 minutes ago. Car had been sitting overnight and had not bee driven today. Ambient temp outside 93. I accidentally activated the safety feature first (unlocked car with key fob from inside the car). Got out - used key in the lock to stop the flashers - car turns over and will not start. Huh!

Technically this is a cold start issue, but I am wondering if the theft lockout feature might be a connection? Previous owner disabled the horn from flashing - just flashers come on - is there a connection?

I had replaced the FI relay, cam sensor and checked all fuses three months ago. My indy garage looked at and found nothing. Not a peep of a starting issue since then. It actually has been running Well, hoping I can solve this as I am as broke as the rest of the country and need my XC to get to work!

I bet dollars to doughnuts that after two hours I'll go back out and it will start.

Geeeez! This is the last thing I need is a crapped out XC 70. I don't mind rattles, groans and odd stuff, but no starts drive me nuts!

I would use the remote to lock and unlock the car, all 4 doors, they try again. Just for kicks, is the fuel pump priming? The fuel relay doesn't like heat.

Did that right away - it's been since 5:30 and I have tried to start it several times - turns over fine - just will not start. If it's the same in the morning, I will have it towed to my indy garage and this time we can figure out the fault. I am not looking forward to a bad fuel pump - those are not cheap on the XC - wishing for a simple fix as very limited dough right now! Actually, it had been running fine since May when this last happened and I had figured the problem was solved with new fuel relay and cam sensor. Hey it was at home in my garage for no start - won't kick the car for doing that!

In addition, I did get a puff of smoke on starting yesterday - but no other symptoms of anything out of the ordinary recently. Oh well! As long as it makes to the repair shop and "no starts' for them - I will be thankful!

Just got back from Indy repair shop - car started up right away all day since it was towed! I am back to WTF on the no-start? Could be a flakey fuel pump as I have original owner records and no mention of fuel pump replacement! I guess I have to wait for it to just quit for good - thought I was at that point! GRRRR
