no start 850

Hi, did a tune up, fuel filter, cam sensor, fuel relay, fuel pump, but car still runs fine and refuses to start. I checked vacuum lines. I am getting a code 4-1-3 EGR temp sensor but I dont know of this would prevent the car from starting. There is spark going into the distributor. I exchanged-tested the ECU with another working one, to no avail. I let the car sit over night and just now went and start it flooring the gas pedal. I start it and runs fine but I cant take it out because at some point it will not start . it feels like a gas supply problem. Maybe the pressure regulator or injectors not working?? Thanks for any
ideas.

When you floored the pedal, you turned off the injectors. That suggests that fuel is leaking into the manifold or cylinders and fouling the plugs. It would be quite rare for all 5 injectors to fail in the open position, so I would look at the fuel pressure relay.

Is there any gasoline in the vacuum line that goes from the FPR to the vacuum tree? If so, replace the FPR.

Listen for the fuel pump when you put the key in pos II, no noise suggests a failed relay (#103).

Thanks for your attention Klaus. I have like 5 or 6 working Fuel Relays so I tested that and two different cam sensors plus the filter and the pump. Big surprise took off the rail to replace the FPR but then I saw the vaccumm hose completely severed. I replaced just the hose and the car started instantly an keeps starting so far. I did not know that the lack of this hose would impair functioning of the FPR. You can actually check it without changing the rail but I did not know to look for it. I did not replace the FPR. I found another hose going from the EGR control unit to the vacuum tree leaking and replaced it. Thanks again. It is amazing how how precious it is to exchange just a few words of knowledge.

Good to hear!

The FPR uses vacuum to change the fuel pressure. Lack of vacuum tells the FPR to increase the fuel pressure by at least 4 psi, enough to flood the cylinders with gasoline at idle.

Start checking the vacuum elbows the next time you have the hood up. Replace those that are very soft or cracked.
