2001 V70 Turbo V70-XC70

One of these advertised in my area, what would the experts advise to look for or to avoid in a 2001 V70 turbo. I understand it has 108K milage and leather, sunroof etc.. Owner vague about the time the timing belt was changed, but thinks at 90K. Appears there is little or no history!

If the PO used a dealer or a 'good' garage consistantly, they will have service records. The timing belt and tensioner were scheduled to be changed at 105K, there should be a sticker on the passenger side of the engine compartment indicating so with date and miles.

The 1999-2001 might have ETM problems. A good refurbished module can be had from XemodeX.com for around $500.

You probably need a new cabin filter, brake fluid, tranny flush, and other maint items. Remember, this is the 1st year of the new model!

The ETM is a 10 yr warranty issue. Take the car to a Volvo dlr and they'll do a check to see if all the recalls are up to date. No sense paying for an ETM that's still under warranty.
