a few errant bolts, wires, and hoses... V70-XC70 1998

Hi. I've got a 1998 V70 T5. Finally replaced the radiator this weekend, along with the relevant hoses. Big job, but the leaky old radiator is gone. Of course, I noticed a few little things along the way. These are minor little bits that need "placing" or replacing, so I'm not finding them in Haynes. Any help you can give would be great.

(1) The heat shield behind the engine, in front of the turbo and the coolant lines, is missing its mounting bolts (which also hold the coolant lines in place). Anybody know the part number, size, or pitch for these?

(2) There are two little hoses to nowhere in front of the wiper fluid reservoir. Are they supposed to just be hanging there like that?

(3) There's a little silver cylinder to the left (looking from the front of the car) of the intercooler air hose. It looks like a little rubber ring has broken off. What is this? I'd like to get a replacement if neccessary.

(4) There are two similar looking sensors (?) that were hanging under the car. Any ideas what these are? One on the left and one on the right.

(5) Last one! I bumped this old hose while getting the fan back in and cracked it. It's one of the hoses going into the right side of the inlet manifold. Is this the MAP sensor? the air temp control valve? do I just replace with a standard size vacuum hose?

Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give!

If there is a pick&pull in your area, call and ask if there are any 850s in the lot. That will satisfy 2-5.

1. Cannot help.

2. Windshield washer, and they are supposed to be like that.

3. Idle air control motor. Rubber mount.

4. Air temp sensors. The one on the driver's side hooks in to the small grill, driver's side. I moved the passenger side to the left small grill, instead of the hole in the air guide/splash guard.

5. Replace the vacuum hose. I hope you put the purple vacuum line back on :>)

The heat shield is best found at pick&pull, any 850/70 with a turbo will be the same. Besides, most P&Ps don't charge for relays.

Thanks! And yes - I did put that purple line back on. Heh - this was the "oh crap I just broke that line, better take a photo and get the duct tape" photo.

I've got a bunch of fairly brittle vacuum lines and elbows - is it worth getting a silicone set? The elbows would be unnecessary then, right?

Silicone hoses are not cheap: http://www.stylinmotors.com/volvo.html
but they come in red, blue, or black. The only elbow worth having is from the rigid pipe for the fuel pressure regulator to the manifold. I just looped a silicone like a pig's tail so it wouldn't crimp.

Used vacuum lines can be sliced down the center and then be used to cover wiring. Especially the fuel injector wiring.

1)Is that the heat shield that comes loose and gets discarded? I was told it only protects against a fire when parking in tall grass. Mine was removed and maybe your previous owner did the same. Or I may be wrong, check it for yourself.
Good luck

Three heat shields, one between the cat and floor of car to keep the floor heat manageable. one between the engine and firewall, one between turbo and engine to keep the wiring from being fried.

Yes, the bolts do come loose and then they rattle, but it does need to be fixed. Sounds like your PO just tossed it.
