Hello,
I am looking for some input on the drivability/operation of my 2000 V70 R AWD.
Background:
3 months ago I noticed that the car started to hesitate at highway speeds from 45-50 MPH until you either feathered the accelerator with your foot or gave more pressure on the accel. to make the car downshift.
In the past 30 days have changed out the Timing Belt, Tensioner, Belt Idler Pully, H2O pump (105k Service) and now the ETM with a xeMODex ETM and just last night the MAF sensor. The T-Belt, and other preventive maintenance was planned and I knew that I needed to diagnose the hesitation. After the T-Belt change out the Car started, ran fine except for the hesitation at the speeds already mentioned which existed previously.
I cleaned the original ETM on the car, put all back together and the car ran worse. Diagnosed that the ETM was shot after studying many forums etc. After installation of the xeMODex ETM, car started and ran well with no hesitation at the speeds above but then the idle became uneven/sometimes engine dies until I unplugged the MAF sensor which then caused the ECU to operate on default mode for the fuel mixture. Car idled better but not so upon accelleration.
Need to have some thoughts on what may be the problem, I have run a fault code scan and it showed that the Air Intake Sensor was faulty (or words to that effect).
I will take the T-Belt cover off this weekend to make sure that the new belt, tensioner and all other are still okay and that we do not have a jumped time issue. I will also run more code scans and check for vacuum leaks across the board.
The engine also seems to Bog Down under load at around 4k RPM when reving the engine in P as well as when driving.
I am not in to just replacing parts but as you can see may have with the MAF replacement (Jury Still out on this one) but what do you and/or others think?
I have found a local independent VOLVO shop that has a good reputation but not ready to surrender and take it to the "Man" yet. The engine does run better with the ETM replacement and know that was an issue prior to replacement.
