wheel bearing and no starting S70 1998

is there anyone out there who can explain to me why my leftfront wheel bearing would go out after 60k miles and why all the sudden my lovely black s70 glt volvo will only start when jumped off with a new battery?

    No idea on the wheel bearing.

    Probably the battery for the no-start. Is it the original one? There was a run of bad batteries on the '98's.

    Mine died at <10K. However, it was replaced by one made by InterState for Volvo under warranty, and it's still good at 35+K.

    Make sure that the electrical/charging system is checked before just replacing the battery.
