Oil Leaks 850 97 T5

I have oil all over the back side of my motor. My first suspect was the oil return tube from my turbo. I have the new gasket and seal ring, but when I went to change them, it looked as though it was not the culprit. There is oil from the mid-section of the block down. I've only had the car for 12,000 miles, and right after I purchased it, I switched to synthetic. This is when I noticed the oil. Would that have anything to do with it? Also, I've got oil seepage on my front splash pan. The only thing I can see that would cause oil here is the lower intercooler hose, in which case I'd probably be looking at a turbo seal. Anybody have similar weepage? I'm not losing much oil, just enough to make a mess. Any help appreciated as always.

    Re: Oil Leaks 850 94 T5

I observed the same problem just a day after purchase (used cars and all that...)My Swedish tractor as they call it here was leaving hand-sized oilprints everywhere, even in the parking lot of a supermarket. I went in to a certified repair shop and they replaced the turbo´s oil return tube ring seal , price 1$ and work 60$ and that was it, not a single drop of oil since.

You should probably still try replacing the oil return seal and see if there is still leakage after cleaning off the old oil. When I replaced my seal, it did not look physically bad, but apparently shrinks, and does not seal well. The oil seems to go all over the bottom of the engine apparently from the wind currents. Leakage under the splash pan on the drivers side is normal on the turbo engines and does not indicate a bad seal.
