1999 S70 Memory Seats S70

My volvo has (3) seat position memories you can load. The problem is mysteriously twice over night, once while driving, and another time, the drivers seat back started to move more forward to a 60 degree or so position on its own??? I can not reload the (3) memorized positions, they still must be stored. Where is this moving on it's own coming from?? and how do you solve this?

thanks, for any help.

To store the memory for the seat: move the seat where you want it, then push and hold MEM and then the number you want to save it with.

BUT, you are the FIRST to report on seats moving at will!!!! Shades of Toyota and Christine. Normal function requires the operator to hold down the button (1-3) until the seat stops moving. If the button is released during this operation, the seat stops.

You don't have a dog in your lap by any chance?

No this is the weirdest thing. Happens overnight usually. Car is locked. Is there any way to clear ALL the memories out for the 3 seat positions? Do you think this is a soft ware issue? Thanks,

Software is not involved, but you could have a bad switch or wire that is frayed and grounding. The plugs for the wiring are just under the front of the seat and easy to see.

If it is just the top portion of the seat moving, then I suggest you have a short in the wiring where it goes across to the motor in the right rear. Move the seat cushion to the highest position and forward. Then inspect the wiring under the rear of the seat from the back door area. A flashlight will be handy.

You cannot 'clear' the seat memories, but you can set them all to the same setting.
