C70 Convertible vs Saab 9-3SE C70

Hi all,

I'm the happy owner of a Saab 9-3, but, being neuroticly unsatisfied about what I have, I am wondering if I should change it for a C70 (either 200 or 250 HP).

Any comments/proc/cons/advice?

Thanks

Quick advice, often times the convertibles & their intentions are completely misunderstood.

Remembering some simple facts about “Mid” sized convertibles, is that They are NOT sports cars

Nor were they ever intended as such..

Then when you take that into account most peoples complaints or issues with any convertible is steamed from them wanting a car with high body flex and other issue’s to be something more than

    It was ever designed..

to answer your question truthfully requires for you to ask yourself

what your use and intentions of this car are going to be and then

Test-drive the various types of cars you interested in.

Then do comparisons based off of what you want from the car.

    I personally chose a 98 Volvo C70 Manual coupe..

If you must own a convertable, I'd keep what you now have because the C70 convertable is a disaster waiting to happen. It's a seriously over-engineered robotic like contraption that's problematic new and can only become any owners worst nightmare once the warranty expires.

      Frank,

what do you base this upon? The 1998 models, yes, they were a pain in the ass, but there were so few of them that their impact ir really negligible. The 1999 and 2000 C70s have been pretty much problem-free. I have heard many horror stories about Saab Convertibles that it's not even funny.

What kinds of problems? What goes wrong with the C70 convertible? It is an elegant-loking vehicle, but rather expensive.

        Re: C70 Convertible V70-XC70 1999

In our area, the few convertables sold almost always often return to the dealership while new because they experience some sort of problems whenever they're rarely used and yes, this happens after the ('98,'99 C70)recall too.

I'm not going to go into details here, just tossing out my $.02 on it. I also hate all convertables and will never own one as they're all more troublesome and costly to own than the same model car without one, then consider all the road noise, wind and water leaks, lack of security. No thanks.
