Fixing my steering wheel horn..... 850 1995

I have one simple question. Before I spend $70 on the IPD horn repair kit can someone tell me if this kit will fix a horn that does not work? In other words, what I read on IPD's website stated, "Is your horn constantly honking?". No, mine actually does not honk at all when pressing two out of the four contact points on the face of the steering wheel. So the question I guess would be, is this also a broken contact issue and would the kit fix that specific problem?

Thanks much........

Fixing my steering wheel horn..... 850 1995

Well I just got this response back from a guy at FCPGroton after asking him if there are any pictures to assist me in this fix. "There are no pictures included and I myself wouldn't touch a steering wheel with an airbag. I leave that to the pro's."

That was encouraging for me to do this job myself. What about disconnecting the airbag so i can do this job without knocking myself out? Any suggestions?
The IPD kit is looking better by the minute as it comes with a DVD.

What a bunch of bunk! It takes electricity to operate the air bag, and with the key in Pos I, there is no voltage supplied. All manuals will have you disconnect the battery, just to be safe. In any case, do not turn the key to pos II with the airbag disconnected, the SRS light will come on and a trip to the dealer to turn it off will cost you. Which also means you cannot test the horn with the airbag out.

There are 2 torx screws in the rear of the steering wheel which hold the air bag in place. Remove the 2 screws, lift off the airbag and disconnect it from the power supply. That will expose the horn ring. You will need the key in pos I to turn the steering wheel to be able to see the Trox screws and get them out.

      Easy.

A new ring will probably fix it. To verify that both horns do work, take a wire from the battery + and touch the horn + and see if it works. Do it to both horns. If you become hard of hearing, replace the ring.

I have no idea what the photo on this page is about, but I think I got mine here and a lot cheaper than IPD:

says on And off -the contacts just get shmooshed, and the kits are the way to go (no duct tape solution will do)
