Rear Window S70 1999

Passenger Side Rear window was put down from the Master Switch and now will not go back up from either the Master or at the door itself. The Master switch feel like something inside is mechanicaly broken. Don't understand why both switchs would not work. Does the power to the rear switch go through the Master?

Don't know if you got a new switch yet but most people take out the switch the hard way by removing the door panel. All you have to do is take some pliers and pull the old switch out.

Yes, the power for the rear switch does go through the front one. If you've ever had kids in the back messing with the windows, you'll have noticed they can override your switch when they try to roll down the back windows and you want them up.

You say it feels like something is broken inside the door switch. You can pull out the door switch pretty easily on the drivers door and short the wires for the broken switch one way or another - +12V or -12V to change the direction of the window motor and get it up for now, assuming it's not jammed.

Hi,
I had the same thing happen Saturday, same window. Neither switch would work the window would not even "bump" when I hit either switch.

The next morning I grabbed the window top wiggled it back and forth and tried the switch and it went up slowly. Don't intend to try to open it again, until I'm ready to go in the door and spend some money.

I'm wondering if there is a thermal cut out that keeps the motor from trying to run after it has hit a dead load [window that is stuck.]

The drivers switch modules seem to have been a problem. IPD has them if you do need one. FCPgroton may have them too.

Good luck with it!

When you get around to pulling the panel off, you will probably find a loose guide. You shouldn't have been able to wiggle the glass. You can also spray the guides with silicon to reduce friction for a while.

Put gnd and +12 right to the motor and up she went... Switch the leads and down she goes...
So I put it up and left the Wires off the motor and that's all she wrote for now...

Time to look for a new switch. Your buttons are probably pretty grungy looking anyway :)

It is possible to 'fix' the master switch, just make sure all of the windows are up and the mirrors pointed in the right direction. I always go the safe route, buy a new switch and then tear apart the old one.
