P2 high beam problem V70-XC70 2003

I'm having a problem with the high beam not locking on when the lever is lifted to activate same. The high beams will come on while holding the lever in the up position but will not lock. Does anyone have any advice before calling the dealer service center. I do not have a service manual for this vehicle and cannot look up the wiring schematic. I tried swapping out the multi switch to no avail. Same thing.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Ken

Dealers sell owner's manuals for around $25, or call the Volvo 800 number and ask nicely for one, or go here and register with your email address to look up manuals online:

Are you sure you're in "headlights on' mode, rather than 'lights off/DRL's on' mode?... V70-XC70 2003

My daughter sometimes gets confused about her S60. If she forgets to turn the headlight switch on (for headlights), because the (low beam) headlights on all the other lights are always on thanks to DRL mode, she can't get the high beams to stay on. But now she knows.
It's too bad Volvo doesn't have some indication to avoid confusion between DRLs, and headlights on.

Real simple. This is a headlaight switch position. Try the other switch position (not the parking light setting), and let us know.
