Welcome to the FWD/AWD forum!
Oil change on an 850 is just as easy, if not easier, than on a B230 engine. I've it done without jacking the front end up but it's easier if it's up a few inches. The filter is accessed from below, located at the right side of the oil pan - super easy. The only hassle is that once the seal is broken during removal, it is inevitable that some oil runs down the side of the filter onto your hands.
Buying a used 850: Service history is key. Abused cars are to be avoided. Just like a B230 it is imperative that the PCV/flame trap system is kept clear with frequent maintenance. otherwise it will get gummed up causing oil seals to fail. It is an interference engine so make sure the the timing belt has been changed in the last 70K miles. Check for the correct color of the tranny fluid if an auto. Check that the AC works, it is common for the evaporator to fail. Fixing it is like replacing a heater fan in a 240 - a big job. ABS controllers are known to fail. Check that the ABS and or TRACS lights come on when the key is turned and don't stay on.
