Looking at buying a 2001 XC70 with no records at 129,000 miles. What should I look out for at $6400?

I bought a 2002 XC70 Ocean Race 128000. I like it alot. Minor issues to give me something to do.

Good choice, 2001 XCs had a couple issues:
* Throttle modules which last 60k miles
* ABS modules which last 60k miles (!)
* Bevel gear problems unless you rotate tires every 7k miles (or use your spare)

We have one of the early early 2001 XCs, and also got a new transmission under warranty because it was slipping for a few seconds when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd.

Honestly, if you're looking for that generation, look for a 2002 or newer. The 2001's had lots of problems. Raleigh has a lot of used Volvos around Capital Blvd...check out Craigslist & Autotrader. I scouted out a few around there when I was looking to buy mine. Weaver Motorsports sells well-maintained cars, but the guy asks far too much for them. Service records or some kind of dealer/maintenance history are definitely something you want with an XC model though.
