I have a 96 850 sedan. I recently had to disconnect the battery so the radio security code has to be entered. The problem is one of the buttons needed to enter it is broken. Is there any way to get the radio to come back on? The stock radio must remain in the vehicle.

Any advice appreciated.

Either the button needs to be repaired or the radio replaced, those are your only options. If your radio does not have the single CD player, then I suggest looking for a 1997 radio with CD - it makes for a better sale anyway.

You could slip the radio out, take off the front cover, and find out why the button no longer works and try to fix it.

If you can't enter any codes then I don't believe you're going to get the radio to work. You're not really stuck with that radio. You can get another and get the code from a Volvo dealer by giving them the s/n.
