Fuel in intake hoses 850 1997

Hey all.

While changing my starter yesterday I noticed that the air intake hoses/tubes had raw fuel in them. I don't know if this is normal, but I somehow doubt it. The only related symptom that I can mention is poor mileage (18 to 22).

I wonder if the fuel pressure regulator has a broken diaphram and is allowing fuel to pour into the manifold. The vacuum hose for the FP regulator changes location depending on the year, the 1995 went to the vacuum tree but the 1998 went to the intake manifold directly.
