Cost of Fuel Pump Replacement on '98 V70R V70-XC70

So after having starting problems, it was diagnosed to a bad fuel pump. Anyone here have this done recently? Ballpark - what can I expect my indy mechanic to charge me for labor? It's a '98 V70R wagon and I'm in Jerzy. Thanks

It's going to hurt. About a month before I sold my 99 V70, the fuel pump died. I was getting ready to move and just didn't have the time to fix it myself so off to the local Dealer. I wasn't too worried, after all, how much could a fuel pump cost? When they called with the quote, I almost had a heart attack! About $700 bucks later, I was out the door. Pissed off but out the door. At least the new owners don't have to worry about the pump :)

Make sure your credit cards are all paid up before going to your indie :)

The V70R has a saddle type tank to go over the driveshaft. One doesn't just drop the tank, he lowers the rear suspension as a unit to expose the fuel pump.

The engineers were out to lunch with that one! It wouldn't have been too hard to have 2 pumps and 2 inspection plates in the floor board, ala 850 fwd cars.

I did my own a few years back. The cost of the pump plus labor should run less than 650 I would think. It took me less than 2 hours, and I took my time.

Then again, are R's AWD? That will raise the cost. The tank has to come out for those.
