Check Engine indicator does not go off after stalled engine S40-V40 2000

I have V40 1.8 manual and I accidentally stalled the engine by releasing the clutch to fast. After I restarted the engine the check engine light was on.
I stopped the car and waited for about 30 min but when I restarted it afterward the light was still on and stayed one until I got home (about 3 km).
Any ideas what the problem might be?
