95 volvo 850 turbo steering rack 850

This weekend I will remove/replace the steering rack (leaking 1 qt. every 500 miles) on my wife's 1995 850 turbo. I would appreciate if someone who has replaced their steering rack can tell me the approximate time it would take to do the job. Thank you.

    Just to let you guys know that I replaced the steering rack on my wife's 1995 850. It took me and my friend from 8:00am To 4:30 pm.The job was not easy for someone who is not a professional mechanic like me, but it is doable.Anyone who is planing to replace their steering rack for the first time should expect at least 6 hrs. to do the job.It would also be a good idea to have a friend help you. I'm curious how much it would cost for a repair shop to do the job? Thanks.

    In the shop it takes about 3 hours real time with a front end alignment. For the DIYer in the driveway, I might expect double. Its an unforgiving, time consuming job.

      Thanks for the reply. As far as I can remember the toughest job I have encountered working in my garrage is replacement of the turbo unit on the same car. It took me 4 hrs. I will post the outcome of the rack replacement after I'm done.Thanks.
