I'm confused as to where the relays are located on a 1996 850. This link:

shows a group of relays next to the fuses under the hood which I have, but then it shows another group that seems to below those. How do you access these other relays? I tried unbolting/pulling the relay panel up but all the wires were holding it in. Do you have to unbolt the knee bolster and access it from inside the car???

Thanks guys! I'm trying to get to the front wiper relay, so I guess i need to access it from inside the car by removing the knee bolster. I looked before but I guess I just must have missed it.

Just remove the kick panel under the dash, not the knee bolster. To remove that relay, you will probably have to remove the relay next to it first, just to get a good grip.
Move the seat back as far as it will go...

You were not specific as to what relays you are trying to find. The 1xx relays are under the fuse box cover on the top. The 2xx relays are below the upper fuse box on the inside of the firewall. The 2xx series are hand and back crampers to get to but, like was said, you need to remove the lower dash panel to get to them.

The other relays are under the dash. You have to take out the kick panel under the dash. And then crawl in...
