Cheap source for HID lights 850 1997

Can anyone refer me to a cheap source of genuine Phiips HID lights? A cursory scan of the Net shows prices around $700. From some of the Brickboard messages, I understand they can be had for much less, around $400+. Would appreciate it very much if someone could point me to the source selling them for this price. I know where to get them for $425 shipped. They are OSRAM and the guy selling them is known pretty well on the Maxima board. I'm planning on getting some from him as soon as I can collect some money. First I'm getting E-codes. Oh yeah, don't have the address on my right now (GF's computer) but I'll post it up later tonight. He's in NYC.

    Regards,

    Mike H.

      Mike,

Borton Volvo could still sell the E-code lens for 850. Their price is about $129.00 each. It is a little bit more than the shop in Massachusetts.

Thanks. I have a C70 though. I'll still check with them though.

        Ok here it is...

Freddie – Audio Links – AUDIO LINKS 201-420-6792 from 11am to 6pm new york time

He quoted $425 with shipping and insurance.

Haven't personally ordered them yet (but I will) but he's been very good to the people of the Maxima board. They all like his stuff.

When you end up getting them, we have to compare . . . Philips vs. Osram. What do you think? The way things are looking, I am picking them up tomorrow, and may install them depending on weather. I'm in Toronto, and it's kinda cold outside, so unless I go through the trouble of breaking out a space heater, I don't think my hands will be able to take the cold.

Oh man! I was in Toronto last week for 4 days. Would've been cool to meet up. Anyways, what Philips bulb did you get? 6000K? I think I'm going to stick with 4300K for now as I'm more interested in light output than color. But the last time I checked, I think the guy selling the OSRAM kit is going to upgrade to 6000K. So I might get them after all. Oh well. Yeah, a comparison is definitely in order. I probably won't order mine until February or so, you'll get there first.

Re: Cheap source for HID lights 850 1997

Since mine are the regular HID's as opposed to the fancy coloured ones, I'm assuming mine are the 4300K.

I'm surprised he would be selling the 6000K for the same price. I remember seeing them on other sites, like that one in the UK and the hids4less site for about $300-400 more. I believe you can get the 4300K at most of those places for about $650-700, and the 6000K for about $1000.

Hey, if you can get the 6000K's for the same price, I'd be willing to sell mine.

I doubt that he'll be selling the 6000K set for the same price. I remember him saying that his supplier will stop supplying him the regular HID and that he will be getting the 6000K units next year. I haven't talked to him lately so I'm not sure what the status is. I'm gonna get E-code lamps first to see if it makes a big difference.

Just becareful guys. There are a lot of shitty ones out there for even more money. Try to stick with companies like Philips, Osram, Hella, and away from companies like Autolite.

There is a board just like this at the philips site for auto lighting, and that's a pretty good source to throw this question to. Lots of knowledgeable regulars, that know as much about HID upgrades as many of the regulars here know about Volvos.
