If you go to test drive a potential buy, check the info display with the key in position II. Make sure the check engine light is on and not burned out. And if the temperature is in C instead of F, the battery was disconnected. Disconnecting the battery turns off all of the diagnostic codes, and a potential CEL.
Same goes for the radio, but most sellers remember to enter the code. Ask them what the code is. If they know it by heart, they disconnect the battery all of the time.
Let them know that the mileage is stored in the computer and can be retreived.
Don't play the radio when test driving, and try to lock up the brakes at least once to check the ABS.
Always let the seller know how much it will cost to have the AC evaporator replaced - $2200 at the dealer.
Be thankful for the OBDII boxes in the 1994-5 cars!
