another transmission flush question V70-XC70 2004

I'm still gathering parts and information to flush the transmission fluid on Mary's 2004 V70 2.5T. Today I picked up a case of Valvoline MAxLife tranny fluid ($57.48 at our local NAPA). I had called and talked to one of Valvoline's techs and he said that it was guarenteed to meet the JWS 3309 specs and was a direct replacement for this car.

Is there any reason not to refill the fluid through the line that comes out of the radiator ? All the write ups that I have seen have the fluid going into the dipstick hole. It seems like a short piece of tubing adapting a funnel to the return line would be much easier. Any advice or opinions ?

Thanks

Greg

ps Sorry to be such so anal retentive about this, but it is an expensive transmission and if I screw it up there will be big trouble on the home front...

The pump in the tranny pushes the fluid through the radiator, nothing "sucks" it back in. You must use the dipstick and a skinny funnel.

On the older cars, the top hose carried the fluid to the radiator. Some newer year, Volvo switched and started to use the bottom line. Don't ask, I don't remember.

I can't find it, but there was a thread about Max life JWS3309. Look it up on Valvoline web site, they list all of the cars that can use it.

It's no big deal, just use the dipstick hole and use the long skinny type of funnel that has a super narrow opening.
He's what I wrote after doing mine last year:

It's an easy and satisfying job.
