Squeeky front revisited V70-XC70 98

My '98 V70 is nearing the end of its warranty and I took it into the dealer for the 40K maintenance, analyze the check engine light prompt, and to have the squeeking front suspension fixed. From many posts on these boards I expect that the shocks are the source of the squeeks. The service manager maintains that it is probably caused by O-rings in the front suspension. Hmmm... I told him about the reports here and he said they would look at the O-rings first. My question is where would these O-rings be? Around the shock shafts? Does this sound right to the experts?

Re: Squeeky front revisited V70-XC70 98

MBkin, the sway bar links Dave mentions are indeed a simple fix, I just had mine done under warrnaty. The only thing is, when they fail, they don't produce squeeking, they produce the "loose suspension" noise when going over the speed bumps slowly. Otherwise, the performance is uneffected. I hear squeeking from my shocks when they compress, but I consider that normal hydraulic noise (it is not very loud, but if you nit-pick, it's squeeking).

    Good luck

these are the swaybar endlinks. cheap, easy repair. it's even a d-i-y job if you're so inclined.
