Cheaper source 3309 compliant oil?

I was at my local PX (I'm ex-military), and noted a new Mobil oil on the shelf. Listed as "Multi Vehicle Oil ATF", I was curious. Reading the back of the container, it stated it was 3309 and Toyota type IV compliant (along with about 20+ other specifications). I guess that was the part that worried me...... How could one oil meet so many different specifications? The container stated the oil was a "Synthetic Blend", and the price was $5.89 or about the price I paid on line recently for Mobil 3309, but then I had to add shipping charges since I can't get 3309 local! This would be nice since it is local and readily available.

Comments from those more knowledgeable on oils would be appreciated.

I wonder what it is blended with? Surely there are some parts stores in Sacramento that carry 3309.
I didn't know there is an Army base in that part of CA.

I live in Vacaville, and that is only 10 miles from Travis AFB. All BX / PX are basically the same.

You would think it would be easier to get 3309, but even the local Mobile distributor refuses to sell it to me unless I want 55 gallons! I looked around pretty hard last time, and still think that would be my preference over this suff I found the other day.

I purchased a case at VESCO OIL in Michigan for $55 and change including tax. They told me it was the last case they had because they generally sell Mobil 3309 in bulk in drums to the Toyota and Lexus dealers. They do not plan to order more (in cases) because of lack of demand.

any Toyota dealer will sell you Mobil 3309 packaged as Toyota Type IV ATF. Same stuff, lower cost.
