I have recently aquired an 850 that did not run and found mulitple problems with it. The primary issue (after correctly setting the cam timing and fixing an intake leak) was was the mass air meter and I have a new one on the way.
However, when setting the timing belt, I noticed that the intake sprocket was slotted and that the timing marks on the top were on a scale.
Haynes says that there is no ignition timing adjustment, but that scale will show what the timing advancement is.
Since the cam sensor is on the exhaust cam (and I don't know if it is slotted) what is the purpose of the slots in the intake cam sprocket if not to change cam timing?
I just want to make sure everything is set to specs before I button this thing up.
Thanks for any advice.
