climate control issues 850

I recently bought a replacement climate control unit for a broken one. Trouble is, tne automatic mode doesn't work with the engine running, but does when the key's Pos 1. The fan blower works fine in manual mode. Any help in figuring the problem will be appreciated.

p.s. can anyone tell me where the vacuum shut-off valve is located? The computer has revealed a 315 code, a possible EVAP problem. I was advised by a volvo parts dealer that the shut-off valve may be the problem. Any advise? Thanks.

Because you can check codes, it must be a 1993-95 850. The B-1 port will have all of the codes for the ECC. Clear them all, what comes back will be the real code. The old unit has the codes from the old car still stored and you need to know what your cars problems are.

The 315 EVAP code is quite generic and usually means a leak in the system somewhere. Clear that code and if it comes back within 2 days, it will be a gross leak. If it takes a week or 2 to come back it will be a small leak. Gross leak is usually associated with something like a gas cap loose.
