CV axle inner splines S70 1998

1998 S70 GLT, 165,000 miles. I'm going to replace the driver's side CV axle, can hear it ticking and causing some vibration. I'm confident that I can get the 36mm nut to come off, and to get the splines out of the hub end - as tough as they can be, at least I've got good access there. What I'm not sure I'll be able to do is get the other end of the axle, splined into the tranmission, to come out. I've never done it before, is it anywhere near as hard as getting the hub end splines to break free? Any tips or tricks?
Thanks

From what I have heard, the driver's side is the harder one to break free from the transmission [:<( I did my passenger's side, and it came right out by pulling on it.

I watched my Indy mechanic do the driver's side, and he used a BMF prybar (30-36 inches long) to pry it out. You must be *careful* when prying to not damage the transmission seal. Good luck.
