2000 V70 won't start. When I turn the ignition, instead of cranking I get interior lights flickering like crazy and hear a rapid clicking noise coming from the dashboard.

Anyone experienced this before?

    One possibility is the battery, or a battery connection (both the posts on the battery and the other ends of the connections). If there is insufficient current flow, the solenoid can chatter and it may be like you describe, or can get the starter motor teeth to engage the flywheel so you hear a whirling sound. Tell us the age of the battery, and if you have checked all the connections from it.
