S70 Engine Light Code PO116 S70 1998

Fellow Bricksters,

I have a Volvo S70 T5 1998 model, recently I have had the engine light come on with the fault code reading P0116. Now I believe this has something to do with the coolant system. However the car runs absolutely fine and has been doing this on/off for the past 3 months with no ill effect on the running of the vehicle.

My question is what would this code specifically mean and what would I need to replace to fix this permanately???

Thanks in advance.

The p0116 is just saying that it is almost time to replace the ECT sensor. Also a good time to replace the thermostat. Watch the temp gauge in the dash and see if it fluctuates a little when the computer cannot reat the signal from the ECT.

When the ECT sensor fails, you will suddenly run very rich because the engine temp will be read as very cold.
