Best grand touring tire for a 2004 2.5T? V70-XC70 2004

Was surprised to discover my sister's newly acquired V-70 uses a 235-45-17 as standard. Costco has a Michelin sale going until the end of the month, but the MXV4 Primacy with a 60K warranty is not made in that size. Only Exalto and some others which are too expensive. Tirerack.com said one of the best in this size was the Goodyear Eagle Responsedge. I don't know what to really recommend for her. She wants a very quiet tire with all the response and traction one could hope for. Would really appreciate some feedback. What's strange is that the car came with an additonal set of 205-55-16 Blizzacks on 16 inch rims. She doesn't really want to change over to the 16 inch and toss her OEM 17-inch rims. Dick

Best grand touring tire for a 2004 2.5T? V70-XC70 2004

I currently have Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires on my 04 V70 and am very pleased. They are quiet, smooth and get decent winter traction. I don't live in an area with extreme weather. My prior set were Bridgestone Potenza G009's which replaced the original Pirellis. The Bridgestones also were a good set but I prefer the Michelin ride. FWIW

Best grand touring tire for a 2004 2.5T? V70-XC70 2004

I run the same size on my V70 T5. It came with Pirelli P6's and they gave me 55,000 miles. I then tried Kumho Ecsta AST, and they lasted 35,000. The Kumho's were a lot less expensive, but in cost per mile, the Pirelli's won! I've just reshoed using the Pirelli P6. Not sure if you have America's Tire Company near you, but my local dealer will match any price. I usually check out Tirerack.com, and then print out the price to include shipping. The shop here matches the price, and adds $80 to mount and balance.

I am a very conservative driver, and felt both tires provide adaquate performance for my driving and ran and wore well. I thought the Kumho were a little quiter, but not that much (I'm also half deaf from prior Air Force duty), so I wouldn't take too much stock in my opinion on noise, Ha Ha!!!

I'd check out tirerack.com, as they have a lot of options, and information on performance and users opinions.

Advice to check tirerack.com V70-XC70 2004

That is what I have found to be most useful. Both the survey results and the individual user reviews are extremely helpful. I find this to be an invaluable resource.
