adding pag oil to compressor 1995

I recently replaced the compressor in my 95 940 along with the rec/drier and some hoses, evacuated the system and charged it up with 134a. While it was running ,the air got very cold but soon after I noticed that there was a substance leaking from the low pressure side connection to the compressor. By the time I got to it, it leaked at least 2 oz of pag oil. Can I replace the oil through the top or do I have to take the compressor out to put oil in it and how much do I put in it. I duplicated the spill with oil and it was between 2 and 3 ozs. Thank you for all and any suggestions! JoeS 92 240 175k, 87 240 180k, 95 940 82 k, 96 960 77

adding pag oil to compressor 1995

It's been several years since I had to work on AC systems, and they were the old R-12 systems. However they did have oil charge bottles that went in just as if you were charging the system. I'm guessing they have similar for the current set up with R-134. I used to mix a substitute for the old R-12 using a mix of Propane and iso-butane instead of the R-12. Works very well, and if you research altenative to R-12, you'll find this info. I perfered a mix of 75% propane and 25% iso-butane (by weight).
