viscous coupler V70-XC70

I fear I have lost a viscous coupler in my '98 XC70. Found a dinner plate size puddle of oil on the floor of the garage and then another the next day. Seems to have stopped now but seems to be coming from the rear viscous coupler. Is there any other solution than removing the drive shaft or shelling out the $2100 bucks for a new one?

A new one on a 10 year old car? Try salvage yards for about $350 each. Good yards will post the vehicle mileage with the parts, get one with low mileage.

While you are at it, flush the differental.
