Headlights and bulbs V70-XC70 1998

Looked up any threads in the archives for the above and found very little help (other than changing the whole headlight assembly for the European lights. One thing that was suggested was to change the bulbs for Philips VisionPlus. Having read this I decided to try these bulbs on my Subaru Impreza, and was very disappointed , they are no brighter than the OEM. Did find a link to a site suggesting using the Toshiba HIR 9012 bulb (instead of the standard 9005). Perhaps the equivalent Toshiba bulb may work for the Volvo.
Hope this may be of some help.
Going back to the Euro lights for a '98 V70 could someone tell me where I can get these?

Many thanks,
The Bear

Headlights and bulbs - hard to find European lamp units V70-XC70 1998

I presume you are in USA. I never found a vendor of the genuine Hella European light units in USA. People wrote about them but never pointed to a supplier, and I looked and looked a few years ago. Finally a friend brought some home from Sweden. I installed the Philip VisionPlus, and they were slightly more effective on this application. Plan on a Volvo parts shopping trip during your next trip to Europe (except the UK ones won't work!).

I had some E code lenses on my V70, until a rock put a small hole in the right side lamp. Loved them! Even with the OEM light bulbs, they are plenty bright.

I replaced both with a Chinese knockoff, projector style. They look great, have a flat cutoff, but not nearly as good as the E code lenses.

I got the Ecodes from FCPGroton a few years ago.

The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are a 95 854T and a 98 V70R :)
