Manual Transmission & Parking Brake Issue 850

I have a 1993 850 GLT with 5-speed manual. Parked on an slight incline with the parking brake on, which needs adjustment, and the transmission in any gear, the car will roll backwards. If in 1st gear, it moves in 2-inch increments about every 30 seconds. Weird. Other gears are much worse, except for Reverse, which is a little better. Besides the weak parking brake, what would cause the car to do this? Thanks!
