While you're at it, you may as well replace the upper and lower radiator hoses, especially if they are original. They aren't that expensive and you'll be detaching one end anyway. I reused the old hose clamps and haven't had any trouble - some people advocate using new clamps. Refer to my previous posts in this thread regarding reusing the old metal clips and the two bushings with metal sleeves for attaching the radiator.
Some people also advocate replacing the thermostat at the same time. I didn't happen to do that myself. It's right there out in the open and easy to get to if it fails later, that was my reasoning. But the same logic used for replacing the hoses could apply to the thermostat as well.
There are many posts about whether to use the Volvo coolant. It is expensive. I chose to use the Prestone "mix with any color" coolant, but I think I'll use the Volvo coolant next time I change the coolant.
