Ok, this is kind of embarrassing. A couple weeks ago, I managed to hit our garbage can as I was backing out of the driveway. The mirror was completely folded back, and when I put it in its normal position, I realized that the glass part was severely angled. I tried to move it using the electric motor, but it didn't work. I figured that 1) It was stuck, or 2) I'd managed to damage the motor.
So, I jumped out of the car and tried moving it by hand. You can imagine my surprise when the cheap thing bent, and the glass essentially became one big spider crack.

That's the broken piece. I just have a couple of questions.
1. How do I get the mirror off without breaking anything (I don't want to have to buy a new motor as well)?
2. Speaking of which, what are the chances that I damaged the motor? I didn't hit the garbage can hard, just going 1-2 mph.
