My 1993 Volvo idles rough and has very low power under acceleration...the problem comes and goes, one day it's perfect may last for a week or two and then the problem returns. Driving me crazy any ideas?

In addition to the other suggestions check for a vacuum leak in the fresh air intake hose, loose throttle body, cracked power brake booster hose, etc - anything that might let an excess of air in. A loose hose or fitting might flex time to time, possibly explaining why the rough running doesn't always occur.

How old are your spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap? Are they OEM? Can it be "cheap" gasoline with a little water mixed in? Does the outside temp make a difference?

Is your check engine light on? Have you pulled the codes from port A-2?
