Where's the keyless entry receiving in an 850? I want to pull it out and put it into another car.

I have a 1995 850 Wagon. can i easily add keyless entry? i have been considering an aftermarket unit but dont like the "istall" fees. i have seen the green connector behind the glovebox and noticed receivers on ebay, do i just plug it in and get a remote programmed to or is there more to it?

You may or may not need to add a relay. On my son's '96 850 I just added the receiver and programmed the remote. It worked fine. He has the deadlock system which features an lock/unlock switch on the dash. My understanding of the older systems - the ones that don't have the lock/unlock switch on the dash - is that you need to add a relay in the lower central electrical unit to make it work.

Directly to the right of the glove box on the A pillar. It is a black plastic case with a green connector plugged into it.

This thread has got me interested. Is it possible that all you do is get a receiver and fob that have corresponding numbers off of eBay and program them with the 5 times key on and off method, and that's it? It looks like the model years have slight differences, but how's the '97 rank in all this? Thanks for any help in verifying my web research.

i have just found the relay, the master lock/dashboard switch, and wireless receiver at a local scrap yard and I will attempt to install them soon. i still need to get the key fob to go with it. luckily the 850 sedan in the junk yard was a 1995 just like my wagon... so here's to hoping it's simple. I had my glove box out last week changing bulbs and saw the little green connector and while detailing the dash i popped out the blank where the master lock button should go and the plug was resting there also...

i will post as soon as i get a chance to try it out.
