1995 850 wagon radio 850 1995

I recently bought a 1995 850 wagon after my 740 was killed in a snow storm.
This car has the antenna in the back side window. I get no FM reception. Is there a known sort of common problem w/ this system? Should I just add a
usual antenna? Any other 850 issues I should be aware of? All help appreciated.
sirbog

Very seldom that dies. Check the wiring in the glass to make sure someone didn't scratch it off. There are repair kits you can use for that, same as the kits for rear window heaters.

Make sure the antenna cable is securely cconnected behind the radio and under the window. There is an antenna booster somewhere under the window area, make sure it is still plugged in.

Don't buy an antenna that needs a hole drilled in your car!!! The first time through a carwash and you will be wet.

Follow KlausC's advice and carefully trace the wiring from the window connection all the way to the radio. I had a 94 850 wagon with the same set up and found that the reception was usually very good. When compared to the 850 sedan I had at the same time, the reception on the wagon was better than from the sedan with the external antenna. When new, the external may be better, but the external seemed to deteriorate with time. I think the effort to repair the window antenna on the wagon will achieve better results than trying to install an external.
