Brake Scrape While Turning V70-XC70 1999

Hello, I frequent the RWD forum as I own a 1977 264 Grande Luxe which I've been driving lately.

The problem is that my V70R has had this brake scrape since acquisition. I have changed the pads as they wore unevenly, but the brake scrape remains. I also rebuilt the caliper. The left rear rotor is noticeably warmer then the right. What is causing this? Is the rear axle in need of repair? Could the axle bearings be shot?

Thanks,
Goatman

If the scraping is in the rear, then it is due to the brake shoes touching the drum. Mine did the same thing because the positioning pins were bent and the shoes were not seated properly at rest. I just bent the rusty pins to the 90degree position and all is well.
The brake cables must be loosened to remove the rear rotor and that is done at the center console.

try checking the parking brake...I have the same issue. The rear brakes have inside drum shoes on the rear brake disk. I haven't figured out why this happens but have isolated it to those shoes. You can try adjusting the parking brake shoes with the star adjuster on the wheel. But if you go just a little too far, they don't hold when the parking brake is on.
