more steering rack issues V70-XC70

my 1999 v70 had the infamous steering rack replaced last august.. everything was fine until tonight when I dumped a large amount of power steeing fluid whether the car was running or not. it appears to be that this leak is occuring before the fluid get to the rack from the pump..
any suggestions.

the seond thing I have forgoten to mention is that air temps here have gone from -12f to +45f in less than 36 hours. and I wonder if the extreme change might have finally popped something, but these are volvos...

Hang on to your hat, it is going to go from 50F to -5F tonight in Chicago. And, no, that will not have an effect on your PS fluid leak.

You have a new rack, so the only thing I can suggest is that one of the hose couplings has blown an O ring. Probably at the steering column.

yea I was able to get a better scope of the situation in daylight and basically so much fluid was coming out at once that it has to be an 0 ring, it was basically the equivelent of taking a quart of fluid and just pouring it right out of the bottle and onto the ground.

and yea, i'm sick of this yoyo weather. I have a rental car right now a PT cruiser.. the "pt" stands for "peice of trash".. i want my volvo back and hopefully by tommorrow!!!I cannot begin to run down the list of things that are unbelivable with this PT cruiser..

if there was a seal leak, it was attached to the rack, becuase they sent the bad rack back and i'm getting another remanufactured one.. hoepfully this one lasts!!! all free due to warranties..

What a bummer. You are still stuck with the PT Cruiser :) Can't you upgrade to a Mustang GT or something? LOL
