Got me a New One --- Well New to Me at Least! V70-XC70 2004

Well someone decided to kill my old XC '99 during a snow storm, just after it broke 160K. Can't teach an old dog new tricks...just had to get another, this one's an '04. Time to start the learning curve all over again.

Any outright heads up out there? Are there any carry over problems from earlier models ie: Bevel Gear type. The cars only has 36K on it and 3 yr. on the standard Warrenty. I can Opt for another 2 yr/100K.

So...How about some input. Thanks ahead of time.

I did the same thing V70-XC70 2004

I did the same thing last year. 99 for an 04. I miss some of the storage features of my 99 but, in general, am happy with the 04.

There was some hard shifting between 2nd and 3rd, but a software update seemed to solve it (well, mostly). I went with a warranty extension at my wife's request.

Sorry to hear about the old car, but the 04 is SO much better. You will still need to flush the bevel gear at the 60K mark. All other 5 cyl engine maint is still the same. Tbelt and tensioner good until 105K without fear.
The Haldex awd is better on the tires and the software for slip control works at all speeds.
If you have a donut spare, find a steel wheel replacement with same diameter tire. Rotate the tires at every 5K oil change.

Enjoy the car,

Klaus
