I hear a tipical exhaust leak noise when I hit the gas. I think it could be a leakness at exhaust manifold but I am not sure.

Any similar experience?
Are there any known weakness point in the exhaust lines?

on my 1995 850 turbo i heard exhaust sounds when the car was cold in the morning but never in the afternoon. I took it to the volvo dealer and after about $350 of diagnostic work they could not find anything wrong. One week later my catalytic converter fell down and dragged behind the car. Check the connections between the CAT and the rest of the exhaust system.

I had two exhaust problems with my 850. All exhaust noises are louder on cold engine. When the pipes heat they expand and partially seal the leaks.

First - the flex connection of the exhaust manifold developed a hole. This was fixed by replacing the manifold (available for non-turbo models for around $300).
This was at 160K miles

Second - the clamp that connect the muffles pipe and catalytic converter pipe fell off. It is made of steel and simply rusted to the point of falling apart. This was a $20 part from a dealer and took 15 min to install. The mileage was, I believe, 180K miles.

When the engine is cold, have a helper hold a cloth over the exhaust pipe while you look for the leak up front. Pay particular attention to the flexible portion below the manifold.
