Master or slave clutch cylinder most likely to fail? 850 1996

Hi,

Yesterday the clutch (original) on my 1996 855 wagon with 162 k miles died without much warning. Couldn't get it into reverse and ten minutes later it was impossible to get into any gear at all.

Now the pedal is completely without resistance and sticks to the floor if pressed. I am pretty sure it's a hydraulic failure but I can't see any sign of leakage at either master or slave cylinder.

Any tips for troubleshooting to pin point the failure?

I rebuilt the master cylinder on my mother in law's SAAB 9000 with a new gasket some time ago but then the leak was pretty evident with fluid on the floor nest to the pedal.

TIA
/Johan
