In need of expert advice... 850

I hope some of you could shed some light on this strange situation.
My car, being a 1994 model is fitted with a Guard Alarm I alarm system (the one with the LEDs and button on the drivers A pillar). Normaly I'm able to activate/deactivate the system 50 mts away from the car. Sometimes it happens that I need to place the remote on the front windshield and as close as possible to the LED indicators for it to work. When this happens, and this is my dilema, the engine runs very rough, at idle it puffs black smoke from the exhaust and fuel comsumption goes uphill. As soon as I'm able to act./deact. the alarm normally, the engine runs sweet as always. I've got no control over this, it comes and goes away by itself.
This is the third time it hapens on the last month, and I can't find any relation between these two issues. It lasts for a day or two and them it goes away. I'm suspecting from any loose common ground, but where...
Hope to hear from you.

Best regards

It almost sounds like your battery is getting low. The next time your remote fails to work properly, use the key to unlock the driver's door but turn the key to the left 2 times to unlock the other doors and turn off the alarm. Then start the car.

If it only happens when the car is wet, then I would suspect a ground problem. If your battery is more than 5 years old, it is time to get a new one.

      Thanks for your feedback
Battery is new (2 months) and had the same behavior before it was changed.
The remote batteries were all replaced recently and both remotes have the same behaviour.
Is that procedure to unlock without turning off the alarm valid for this system (Guard Alarm I). I think I've tried it before, with no success.
This behaviour takes place with cold/hot dry/wet weather.
It seems that too much fuel is being thrown into the cylinders, causing black smoke puffing off the exhaust and the rising in the mileage.

Is there any relation between the ECU and this alarm system??
I'll try to get more info.

      Thanks again and best regards
