I have a chance to bottom feed on a 97 that needs shift solinoid.or so the owner says.I have a 93 parts car would the trannys interchage at least on this level thanks alot

Very good possibility. Even so, the soliniods aren't very expensive and replace easily.
It could be just a chaffed wire, which is a hard diagnosis.

The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are a 95 854T and a 98 V70R :)
