Ignition switch lock S70 1998

Another little annoyance to deal with..recently have had problems turning key all the way back to where the steering wheel will lock in place, took some fiddling with to get it back to where I could remove the key from ignition..once, by stepping on the brake pedal, was able to turn it back all the way...is there something wrong with the lock cylinder itself, or something weird going on with the shift lockout? If the lock cylinder, is it available alone, or only in conjunction with the ignition switch?..car starts and runs fine...Chilton says they're one unit, but I noticed several errors in this book, but better than nothing(manual said necessary to remove steering wheel to replace turn signal switch, not true, just had to remove outer cover halves, and remove two screws). Would I have to pull steering wheel to affect repair?

In the rear of the key cylinder is a cable that keeps the key from coming out when the tranny is not in park. This cable end can get sticky, according to some others on this board.
The solution seems to be to pull the cable end out and use light oil (NOT WD40) to make it slip easily again. A new lock cylinder will require removal of the steering wheel and drilling out the bolts, not an easy operation.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
